Losing Weight Takes Planning

It is a very simple equation. A pound of fat is the equivalent of 3500 calories. Thus, if your goal is to lose one pound per week, you essentially need to consume 3500 less calories per week than your body utilizes. Therefore, if you were to reduce your calorie intake by 500 calories per day, and continue on your normal day to day activities, you would lose about a pound a week.

Not too difficult huh? If you are twenty-five pound overweight, you can reach your ideal weight in less than six months. Losing weight gradually, such as a pound per week, enables you to keep the weight off long-term.

Now we know what we have to do, but how do we do it? Below, I have put a list together of some adjustments which you can make to your diet which should be helpful.

1. Use milk and hold the cream when it comes to coffee. Doing so will cut 50 calories.

2. Simply leaving the butter off of your baked potato keeps 100 calories out of your body.

3. Drinking flavored water rather than the sugar filled liquid 16 ounce soda can cut 200 calories out of your diet. This adds up.

4. Put that Big Mac down and pick up a salad. Doing so will cut up to 460 calories.

5. You do not need that bag of chips. If you agree, you are giving up 300 empty calories. This is a good thing.

6. Pass the corn please, but make sure it has ears. Corn of the cob consists of 80 less calories than canned corn.

7. Regular cream cheese or low-fat cream cheese. What is the difference? About 90 calories, that’s what.

8. While I recommend that you avoid French fries, if you must have them, order the steak-cut fries over the thin fries. The truth is that the thin fries absorb more fat. Making this selection will lower your calorie intake by approximately 50 calories per 4 ounce serving.

While limiting the amount of calories which you take in on a daily basis is one way to lose weight, you can also lose weight by burning more calories. This is done by becoming more physically active. Look at how simple this can be accomplished by directing your attention to the examples below.

1. A 30 minute walk at a brisk pace can do wonders by burning 160 calories.

2. Get on a bike and ride for 5 miles. Doing so will burn 250 calories.

3. Getting on the dance floor and moving your body to the music can burn up to 400 calories in as little as one hour.

4. Not only is swimming fun, it is also a great way to burn 500 calories in just 60 minutes.

5. Of all things, did you know that gardening can lead to you burning 250 calories?

6. Tennis is not only fun to watch, it is fun to play. Plus doing so will lead to you burning 800 calories after 1 hour.

You should know that they above figures are based upon the calorie burning ability of a 130 pound woman. Therefore, if you weigh more than 130 pounds, you will burn more calories than the aforementioned examples. Furthermore, those exercises will lead to healthy muscle gain. Healthy muscle turns your body into a calorie burning machine, even when you are sleeping.

For best results, I highly recommend that you cut back on your calorie intake, and become more active. Just make sure that you do not take in too few calories. If we take in less than 1000 calories per day, our bodies go into a starvation mode, causing our metabolism to slow down drastically. We want our metabolism high, therefore, we must consume enough calories, but not too many.

Make sure that you keep your exercise and calorie consumption at a healthy level. Also maintain records of both of these activities to make sure that you remain on track. Before you know it, you will have the body that you were working towards.

Astral Projection Methods For The First Timer

Astral projection methods vary, but all methods start with relaxation. You need that quiet mind so that you can get focused and relaxed. This quiet state will help you to get ready for going beyond your physical self and into the mindset you need to be in to begin exploring the universe around you.

Focused relaxation is not easy. One must simultaneously relax every muscle and still every thought all while maintaining the presence of mind to stay conscious. The most common reason an astral projection attempt fails, in fact, is because the candidate does not maintain his or who focus through the relaxation phase of the process, and thus, simply falls asleep.

To start getting into the necessary relaxed state you should prepare by dressing in loose clothing. Sit is a place where you won’t be distracted or disturbed. You should avoid laying down as a beginner since it is too easy to become too relaxed in that position and fall asleep.

When you are comfortably seated, start to imagine that your body has been completely wrapped in a bandage, like a mummy. Everything is tightly wrapped from head to toe. Now start to imagine that you are being unwrapped starting at your toes. The blood flow returns, feeling returns and your toes are free.

Now the balls of your feet through the arches and heels, up to the ankles are unwrapping. Keep moving up the body, unwrapping each body part until you everything is free up to the top of your head.

Now with you body relaxed and your mind still alert you are ready. You can move on to trying one of the methods of astral projection.

The principle method for astral projection is the rope method. Before beginning the relaxation phase, and individual should tack a section of twine to the ceiling just beyond reach if in a sitting position. One should then sit beneath the “rope” and reach up while closing his or her eyes in order to get a mental impression of the rope’s proximity.

Hanging the rope will let you easily find it with your astral fingers. You will float to the rope and use it as a guide once you are relaxed. In the beginning it can be a little tricky to find the rope, but after a while you will have no trouble doing so. Just remember to be focused.

Find the rope and picture your astral body leaving your physical body and climbing the rope. Your astral body doesn’t weight anything so give no consideration to weight. Stay focused on climbing and moving up the rope. You may become a bit dizzy, but try not to focus on that as it could mess up the projection.

Climb on up the rope until your astral body is free. You should not focus on any of the feelings you may have. You may feel dizzy or tingling or warm. All these things are just a art of the process and completely normal when it comes to astral projection.

Variations of the rope method include the lift method, in which one visualizes him or herself pulling upward from the physical body and hovering above it; the roll out method, in which an individual envisions him or herself rolling to either side of the physical body (works best when lying down), as well as the fixed and moving anchor method.

The fixed method and anchor method involved picturing an object. In the fixed method you are pulling your astral body to the object and in the anchor method the object is pulling your astral body to it. Once you are free your astral body can then roam and explore.
